Guide to the Walls & Fortifications
Medieval wall, Restoration-era bastions, and a circuit of roughly 2.5 km around the historic core.

Castelo de Vide's defences belong to more than one moment. The medieval wall, partly raised under King Dinis, was later wrapped in bastioned works from 1641 onward during the Restoration War, when military engineers introduced French and English innovations.
The result is a circuit of roughly 2.5 km that can be walked while reading, stretch by stretch, two distinct military logics.
